Waghorn Family Bannaby Fire Relief

On the 21st of January my mum along with her partner, Dave, and friend, Dillon, were evacuated by NSW RFS choppers from her property in Taralga, rural NSW as the Bannaby bushfire made its way towards them.
They only had time to collect our 2 pet cats and a suitcase of items before getting off the property, leaving behind over 15 years of hard work transforming the barren clay into a blooming permaculture habitat complete with chickens, ducks and fish.
The next day, despite valiant efforts from NSW RFS, it was all gone.
It's still too dangerous to see the carnage first-hand for ourselves, but the coming months are going to be tough as we work out if/what will be covered by insurance, care for the cats and temporary accommodation.
We don't know what the future holds yet, but anything to try and alleviate the financial stress of this in the short term for my mum, Vic, would be the biggest help.
Many of our friends and family been a part of the mini-community on mum's property, enjoying weekends, special celebrations & helping to establish the permaculture at the property affectionately known as "The Monastery".
We are hopeful that we will have new memories to create here together soon.
