The only thing worse than hearing, “you have cancer” is hearing, “your mom has cancer.”
The only thing worse than hearing, “your mom has cancer,” is hearing it twice.
My roommate’s family has been dealt a low-blow recently. While Mama Bourke has proven to be quite the fighter (beating breast cancer with the battle scars to show), she’s been summoned back into the ring to stand her ground against a wicked opponent – stomach cancer.
This news has been devastating to Mr and Mrs Bourke and their four incredible kids. The recently retired couple were set to move from London to Ireland, but are now forced to retire at their eldest daughter’s home- equipped with the most adorable toddler you’ve ever seen. While Little Ava will be over-the-moon to have live-in grandparents, I can’t help but assume Mama Bourke would prefer to be in good health, overlooking rolling-greens with her husband of 30 years.
Emotionally and financially devastated by the diagnosis, the Bourke’s could really use our help. Every penny counts. Every cent will be given to the family to use however they see fit – whether that’s paying for chemo, basic necessities, or their children’s flights to/from the U.K to be with their mom.
It’s heartbreaking to watch my roommate helplessly suffer from 5,000mi away. Please help me in easing the financial stress the Bourke Family is facing.
Your contribution is sincerely, sincerely appreciated.
