Band Orchestration - Volume 2

I'm hard at work on producing the second volume of my text Band Orchestration. Volume 1 covering orchestration came out last year to great reviews. This year, I plan to release the first companion volume.
The initial plan was to have volume 2 focus on instrumentation (essentially a course in how each instrument functions), but as I began to work, it soon became apparent that the book was simply going to be too big. Therefore, I have made the decision to split volume 2 into two books. The first will focus on just the woodwinds alone. This book will be between 500 and 600 pages in length (up to 33% longer than volume 1) and will include many photos taken specifically for this book. There will also be hundreds of musical examples taken from both orchestral and band music.
When completed, Volume 2: Woodwinds will be both an orchestration text and an encyclopedia of woodwind instruments. Instead of the 5-10 pages normally reserved for an instrument in an orchestration text, this book will have between 50 and 120 pages for each instrument family.
Musical examples for each chapter will be taken from public domain works, my own compositions, and most importantly several major modern band composers including David Maslanka, John Mackey, and Johan de Meij (and hopefully more!).
There are two fundraising goals. The first is a mark of $2,500 to cover the expenses for the book. This will include production costs and time taken off work to focus on the book.
The second goal is set at $7,500. This is a flexible goal. For every $150 above I will be able to produce a video where I hire a professional player to play the solo excerpts from the book. So, for instance, $150 above the initial goal will mean that a video showing the excerpts for the C Flute will be produced. Another $150 and the video for Oboe will be made. I will record the videos for the common instruments first and the rarer instruments later as we get closer to the final goal of $7,500. The $150 cost will entail hiring of the player, travel expenses, and editing costs.
