St. Catherine of Siena administration, staff and parents are excellent supporters of the band. The school has already paid for the music for the festival, for repairs on a bass clarinet and baritone sax borrowed from other schools to develop a fuller instrumentation for the festival and for reeds for the bass clarinet and baritone saxophone. We are planning a couple of small fundraisers to help raise the festival funds but we really need the help of the community to make this goal a reality.
The cost involved are:
$1500 to charter a bus for the 14 hour day trip to Thatcher, AZ
$225 to pay the Band Festival entrance fee
$275 to purchase a pair of crash cymbals to use at the festival and beyond.
Recently, I was contacted by a St. Catherine of Siena and St. Mary's High School band alumni who is now playing trombone in the Navy! I am so proud of her and thankful that her experiences at St. Catherine's and St. Mary's shaped her into the musician she is today. This band alumni exemplifies the positive results that occur from meaningful experiences in band with tangible life-long benefits for the individual and their community.
We are asking that donations be made by March 22, the deadline to pay the festival participation fees.
