Bambini e Covid 19 – una zampa per ricominciare

Sono Eleonora Caire, un medico che lavora nelle USCA (Unità Speciali create in Italia per la gestione sanitaria dell'emergenza COVID-19) e un Medico di Medicina Generale.

In questi mesi sono stata vicina a tante persone, tra cui molti bambini, colpiti dal Covid-19 e mi sono accorta che spesso cercavano in me qualcosa che purtroppo in quel momento non potevo dare: un contatto vero! Li vedevo spesso tristi, taciturni, spenti, stanchi di questo isolamento forzato e avrei voluto aiutarli, ma come?

Qualcuno mi ha presto fatto capire che la risposta che cercavo mi scodinzolava davanti ogni sera.


Sono, infatti, impegnata da tempo nel sociale perché collaboro con l’Associazione “La Casa del Sole – APS” in progetti di Terapie Assistite con gli Animali insieme a Tania Tessera (psicologa clinica esperta in Terapie Assistite e Presidente dell’Associazione) e tanti amici terapeuti a 4 zampe. Insieme abbiamo ideato un progetto in collaborazione con i Medici di Medicina Generale dell’Asl Città di Torino dedicato ai bambini più fragili a cui la pandemia ha causato alcuni sintomi correlati al Disturbo da Stress Post Traumatico (PTSD). Il PTSD è un disturbo che causa gravi problemi in soggetti che hanno vissuto un trauma che li ha segnati profondamente.

“Dopo il Covid mi sono resa conto che mi sono rinchiusa in me stessa, i problemi e i pensieri soprattutto invadevano la mia testa ogni giorno, sono diventata molto più fredda di prima, non riuscivo a trasmettere queste emozioni, sono diventata come una cassaforte chiusa con un lucchetto. Nessuno poteva entrare e nessuno poteva uscire. Da questa esperienza ho capito che non sempre la fiducia si deve guadagnare, ma bensì si può imparare a fidarsi e ognuno di noi può trovare dei modi per superare gli ostacoli.
Mi dispiace che questa sia stata l’ultima seduta e spero con tutto il cuore che questo progetto vada avanti. Aiuterà tantissime persone.”

Finora, grazie alle donazioni di molti amici, siamo riusciti ad aiutare gratuitamente diversi pazienti come Giorgia, ma quelli che vorremmo aiutare sono molti di più.

Il Vostro contributo, grande o piccolo che sia, ci potrà aiutare nel proseguimento del “Progetto Ancora, Una Zampa per Ricominciare” che prevede sedute di Terapia Assistita con il cane per cui sono necessari un’accurata igienizzazione degli spazi, dispositivi di sicurezza per il Covid-19, esami clinici e comportamentali dei cani e tanto altro ancora.

I am Eleonora Caire, a medical doctor, working in the USCA (Special Health Units created in Italy to manage COVID-19 emergency) and internist in the ASL City of Turin.

In recent months I have been close to many people affected by Covid-19, including many children, and I realized that they were often looking for something that unfortunately I could not give: a real contact! I often saw them sad, silent, dull, tired of this forced isolation and I wanted to help them, but how?

Soon someone made me realize that the answer I was looking for was wagging its tail in front of me every night.

I have been involved in social activities in collaboration with the Association "La Casa del Sole - APS" in Animal Assisted Therapies Projects together with Tania Tessera (clinical psychologist expert in Assisted Therapies and President of the Association) 4-legged friends therapists. Together we have created a project in collaboration with the Internal Medicine Department of ASL City of Turin dedicated to the most fragile children to whom the pandemic has caused some symptoms related to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). PTSD is a disorder that causes serious problems in people who have experienced a trauma that has marked them deeply.

"After Covid I realized that I closed up in myself, the problems and thoughts above all invaded my head every day, I became much colder than before, I could not transmit these emotions, I became like a Safe closed with a padlock. Nobody could go in and nobody could go out. From this experience I understood that trust must not always be earned, but rather you can learn to trust and each of us can find ways to overcome obstacles.

I am sorry that this was the last session and I hope with all my heart that this project will go ahead. It will help a lot of people. "

So far, thanks to the donations, we have been able to help several patients like Giorgia for free, but the children for whom the Internal Medicine Department continue to ask us for help are many more than those we have supported so far.

Your contribution, large or small, will help us in the continuation of the "Project Ancora, One Paw to Start Again" which includes Assisted Therapy sessions with the dog for which careful sanitation of the spaces, safety devices for the Covid-19, clinical and behavioral examinations of dogs and much more.

We ask for your contribution to include other children in our project.
