HELLO WE ARE BFD

Ballet Folklórico De Detroit (BFD). A folkloric dance team from Detroit run 100% by volunteers. Our instructor, Lance Rodriguez, volunteers 5 nights a week to teach us.

WHY ARE WE FUNDRAISING

We are very excited to attend the prestigious Competencia Folklorica de Tejas in Corpus Cristi, Texas on March 25 & 26. We are the only Michigan dance group to attend the competition.

BFD dancers are diligently practicing 5-7 days each week to give their best. “I am very proud of their dedication,” said Lance,  our founder and instructor.

We have raised more than half of the $6,000 needed to attend but NEED YOUR HELP to raise an additional $2,500. Your support will help with the expenses including renting 2 vans, gas, registration fees, food and lodging and costumes. All of these prices have increased significantly this year.

BFD is reaching out to the community to help raise the additional funds needed to attend the competition. Traditional Mexican dance is not only beautiful but is also very regulated to keep it historically accurate. BFD has worked hard to make sure we meet the qualifications! Now we want the opportunity to show our efforts and hopefully bring home a trophy!

PS: If we are lucky enough to receive more than $2500 the additional will be used to purchase the 80+ costumes we must raise funds for.
