Ticket to Stride

Dreams exist even in the most damaged of hearts and minds. They have the added blessing of being wonderfully irrational. Sometimes against every conceivable odd, they come true. Born with epilepsy, Cerebral Palsy and Autism, I was never expected to do very much at all. Walking, speaking and academics were undoubtedly out of the cards for me. Those who informed my mother of these things simply did not know to whom they were speaking. Together we strove and with the aid of heaven, the odds didn't matter at all. Now I have a dream of my own. A dream to ride a balance bike and eventually ride a motorcycle but I cannot accomplish this goal without help. Funds raised will be used towards the acquisition of a 20 inch balance Bicycle for adults.
Why?
My condition affects both of my legs and severely impairs them. A balance bike differs from a normal one in that it is piloted with your feet, lacks pedals a chain and is specifically designed to teach children and people with disabilities like mine to balance.
Having one would ensure that the concepts of balance and pedaling were separated and that I was allowed to learn the most fundamental skill without overwhelming my mind.
Who would benefit?
I would. I take great care to make sure that the efforts put by others towards the goals I set is not in vain. I have needed help all my life and that is neither a sin nor a crime if I give it my all to not only accept help, but to accomplish what I've set out to do.
What would it mean?
That thanks to many people, I got a chance to experience one of life's mundane little joys. That once again, the odds didn't matter. I didn't have to sit back and watch everyone else have all the fun because I had helping hands both great and small.
