Bakersfield Urban Backyard Hens

Established in May of 2020, supporting the efforts of the "City of Bakersfield Backyard Chicken Initiative" is our primary focus. However, there is a long term vision in place for our web page. After we are successful with establishing a city ordinance which allows residents to maintain a small flock of backyard hens, this site's intention is to continue to be a resource for pet hen owners. Our purpose statement is, "Inspiring hope while educating, supporting and nurturing a caring community of Bakersfield hen enthusiasts." 

Initially, all donated funds will be used to further the efforts to legalize owning backyard hens as pets. This might include (but not limited to): printing costs for informational fliers, presentation packets, upgrading the web page and give-away advertisement items such as magnets and stickers. Eventually, donations could be used for educational classes, continued positive community messaging and support of neglected hens.
