Baker Family Bereavement Fund

Why are we requesting your assistance?  How will your contribution to the Baker Family Fund really help?

Since at least 2012, the Baker Family has been dealing with a variety of situations that have taken a huge toll financially, logistically and emotionally.

Our mom, Elsie Baker, experienced several strokes confining her to a wheelchair and racking up numerous hospital and physician bills along with ongoing medication management.  Our dad, Theodore Baker, stepped up to directly assume daily care of his wife of now 47 years, while continuing to visit the sick and shut-in, console the bereaved, encourage the broken and despondent, feed and clothe the homeless and preach the good news to the emotionally and spiritually bound.

During this time, the children have expended time and significant resources to assist mom and dad.  Then, in 2013, dad was diagnosed with stage 2 throat/tongue cancer and began with chemotherapy treatment while continuing to take care of his wife in the home.  Concurrent with absorbing costs associated with increasing medication and other related medical bills, mom began to develop the onset of dementia and a variety of behavioral health challenges. Needless to say, the costs continued to rise with direct support by the children including several visits to CA with related rental car and hotel expenses.

Then, in the fall of 2014, Theodore Baker began to experience several strokes which moved him intermittently from hospital to rehab facility until finally landing him permanently in the Critical Care Unit at St. Bernidene Hospital in San Bernardino, CA.

From the fall of 2014 until now, the children and other family members have made multiple trips to CA from all over the country, which includes rental car, hotel and other costs associated with supporting Elsie Baker who is now under 24 hour care within a nursing facility

Upon learning of the February 14th death of her husband, the shocking and traumatic nature of this news has further complicated her state of dementia and recently she experienced a fall which landed her into the same hospital.  We will need to provide ongoing logistical and financial support to mom given her challenging condition.

Given mom and dad's meager means, there are simply not enough resources available to absorb the expenses that have been and that will continue to be incurred and largely borne by the children.

As a family, our need from you and others you may know is to consider helping us to take care of all these outstanding affairs

Donate whatever amount God places on your heart to give.  Whether it's $10, $25, $100, $500 or more...contribute whatever you can afford to help us achieve our goal.

From our father's heart to yours, thanks so very much!!
