Bailey's medical mission trip

I am overwhelmed with joy to announce that I have been given the opportunity to participate in a medical mission trip this summer!  Myslef and 7 other Rockhurst nursing students will be volunteering at St. Mary's Hospital in Gulu, Uganda for 2 weeks. While there, we will be working alongside the nurses in the hospital, as well as teaching at the nursing school, orphanage, and in the community about a variety of health care topics. 
A program that we plan to focus a lot of education on while there is called "Helping Babies Breathe". The mortality rate for children under 5 in Uganda is the highest in East Africa. These classes will greatly benefit the community by providing necessary education in a goal to bring that rate down. 
St. Mary's runs primarily on donations. All donations made will go directly to supplies for our "Helping Babies Breathe" program, as well as a variety of supplies to help educate the nursing students and the children of the hospital, orphanage, and community.
In addition to monetary donations, we will also be collecting the following items: 
1) girls & boys (ages 6-16) new underwear, socks
2) hygiene products: toothbrushes, toothpaste, bar soap, lotion
3) Pencils, pens, glue sticks, colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, crayons
4) soccer balls , volleyballs, ball Pumps
5) children's books (lightweight) and coloring books, also books for teens
