Bailey's Electric Wheelchair

Donation protected
Bailey is an 8 year old girl that has cerebral palsy. Bailey underwent Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy(SDR) surgery 4 years ago to help her to walk independently.

A goal she achieved in record time with the help of her own sheer determination she has had from the start, endless hours of different physio therapies her friends and family fund raised for. Unfortunately baileys growth affected her onward progress and she subsequently has many bone and joint issues which have seen the deterioration of her well-being and mobility.

This means bailey has been unable to walk as much as she has done in the past and is spending  a majority of  her time in a wheelchair. Bailey has several lower limb issues and in July 2020 had to undergo emergency surgery to save her Hip and knees.

Bailey is a ray of sunshine to all she meets. She is bubbly and enjoys socialising in all types of activities both in and outdoors. Bailey’s interaction with others has become extremely limited of late and has this seriously affected her mental health and emotional well-being. From being able to play out and enjoy playtime at school with friends or park with her siblings to being restricted to a wheelchair which she has to manually propel has left bailey  constantly exhausted.

People with cerebral palsy use up to 300% more energy than the average person and this has taken a huge toll on this 8 year old child. Bailey’s family have applied for an electric wheelchair but because their current home can’t accommodate one bailey has been denied. Bailey’s home has since been adapted but the application to the local authority was once again denied.

This is why we are trying to fund raise for an electric wheelchair that would most certainly allow bailey the social interaction she needs and deserves. Bailey will be able to keep up with friends and will put a stop to Bailey being  isolated from the community. Not only will this bring Bailey an immense amount of happiness but it will also bring her a similar level of independence to what she had become used to after putting in so much work post SDR.

Please donate as little or as much as you can to enable Bailey to be the best that she can be.
