Back of the Yards Buccaneers Football Team

The Back of the Yards Buccaneers Football team won the 12u State Championship  and have earned the opportunity to go play at the National Championship Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio from  December 11-15. The BOYS ARE ATTTENDING NATIONALS!!! Thank you to everyone that has supported and donated thus far, it is greatly appreciated. We have reached or goal for registering but the teams needs additional help raising money for housing and travel expenses for the team.  We have 25 players from Chicago's Back of the Yards, Gage Park, and Englewood neighborhoods. Most coming from low income, single family homes that can't afford the cost of transportation, housing, and food for this trip. These boys have worked extremely hard throughout the season and overcame many obstacles to earn this opportunity. From taking two to three buses to get to practice, to practicing in extremely cold weather just to perfect their plays, riding their bikes/walking early in the morning to make sure they were on time for game time.  This would be a dream come true for these young urban athletes. 

We are asking everyone for help in sponsoring the kids and donating whatever you can. Everything helps. All the players, coaches and parents thank you in advance.  We ask everyone to please share this link with family, friends, and throughout your schools and neighborhoods.

My name is Monica Alvarez, I am from Chicago, Illinois and I am the mother of one of the players on the team. I would like to thank all the wonderful people who have donated and helped our boys make this dream a reality. The funds donated will go towards providing transportation, housing, food, equipment, hygiene products, and all other necessities our 25 players need while being in Ohio.
