Back Bridgette's Battle

Before writing this, I took the time to peruse the vast amount of people who are in need of support on gofundme.  Beyond the recipients, what stood out the most to me were the seemingly endless number of individuals who looked past their own wants and needs to give selflessly to others.  

On behalf of my one of my dearest friends, Bridgette Shanks Jones, I’m asking for that same selflessness.  Last Summer, Bridgette was diagnosed with a Grade III brain tumor.  Since then, she has faced an uphill battle. Bridgette immediately underwent surgery, radiation treatment and continues to receive chemotherapy.  Bridgette’s strength and fearlessness has been quite remarkable, as she did everything she could to continue balancing work, raising her thirteen year old daughter, Sophia, and receiving chemotherapy treatment.  

While the treatment has been successful at keeping the tumor from progressing, Bridgette is now suffering from Radiation Necrosis.  This occurs when an area of dead tissue forms at the site of the brain tumor after radiation.  This has left Bridgette extremely confused, suffering from short term memory loss, with the inability to carry out day to day tasks.  There is also a high risk of seizures.  

Bridgette has recently had to stop working and needs care around the clock, all of which insurance does not fully cover.  Bridgette has no family in Los Angeles and we are trying to keep life as "normal" as possible for she and Sophia. Bridgette needs our support as the financial burden is too much for her to bear.

All the funds raised through this site will be used towards co-pays, transportation costs to/from treatment, in-home care, prescriptions, and day to day costs that Bridgette can’t meet.
