Baby Eve's Medical Bills

Donation protected

Hi everyone.  This gofundme page is being put together to create a fund-raising for Baby Eve.  Eve is the daughter of Maggie and Dave.  She was born on December 27, 2013.  When Eve was born the doctors realized she had a rare condition called Esophogeal Atresia.  The condition is when one is born without the esophogus connected to the stomach. She was transported to Children's hospital soon after and has been there since.  Eve has been on a G-tube (feeding tube) as well as what is nicknamed a bubble trap, which suctions out the fluid from her esophogus.  This is necessary to keep her alive.  She enjoys her mommy's milk which is delivered via the G-tube.  On Thursday, April 24th she was taken in to surgery to make the connection between the gap of her esophogus and stomach.  The surgery was successful and she is currently in ICU recovering.  Along with this surgery Eve had fluid mass that collected in her lung (cavity surrounding the lung) which caused a lung collapse and partial collapse and she was placed on a respirator and had tubes inserted to help relieve the collection of fluid and help her lungs heal.  As of today (May 3) she passed initial tests that will allow for her to come off of the respirator and breath on her own (Yay!).  Eve has had many complications, but also many triumphs.  Some of her milestones include, enjoying music therapy, visits from animal therapy dogs, her first trips into the healing garden (sitting in the grass!) via portable devices as well as a celebration to baptise Eve and with brother Kellan on Feb. 3rd. The hospital takes great care to offer support to not only Eve, but Kellan as well through the Sibling Center.  Through it all she has always been improving and shows those surrounding her an amazing smile.  She is a true fighter and you should see how much personality she has (hint hint: she's a redhead)!   I will post a little video of her at 3 months where she will show you her little smile.

This fund page was the idea of friends of the family (we got permission).  We are trying to be proactive to the care costs that are beginning to accumulate.  Some of the challenges include travel, lost time at work, gas, medical, therapy and rooming fees at Ronald McDonald. I know that as friends we all want to do a little something to help fascilitate healing without having to worry about mounting bills and this is just one of the many types of support they have.  The money will go directly to the family.

I know they want to say thank you to all of you for the continued support, prayers, and love.  They can't wait to celebrate with you and share Eve when they get to bring her home with them.

Thank you very much,
