On May 20th, 2017 my beautiful daughter Ashley and wonderful son-in-law Jake were rushed by ambulance from Orillia to Mount Sinia Hospital in Toronto.
Ashley, at only 26 weeks pregnant, was showing signs of early labour. At 3 cm dilated the wonderful staff managed to temporarily stop labour.
On May 25th, we received the heart-wrenching call that Ash was now 7cm dilated. At 7:10 AM, my beautiful grandson was born. He weighed 1 lb 14 oz and measured 34cm.
Being 3 months premature, he was immediately rushed to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) where our little fighter will spend the next three months.
Ashley and Jake have yet to name Little Boy Pope. "I will know his name, Mom, when I can hold him in my arms".
Ash and Jake have been accepted and will be staying at the Ronald McDonald House for approximately 3 months at a cost of $15.00 a day. Jake will be traveling daily back and forth from Orillia and parking costs are at a staggering $420/month.
As you can imagine, this is an extremely emotional time and the amount of support from friends and family has been overwhelming, to say the least. Several friends and family members have approached us wanting to help ease the financial burden. I have decided to create this fund to make things easier.
I'm hoping we can help relieve the financial stress of the travel, parking and accommodation costs so Mom and Dad can focus their time and energy on our little Superman.
