Support Baby Biggers and Family

On Sunday December 17, Calvin Matthew Biggers decided he could not wait any longer to join his family! Katie (huber) , Matt and Olivia welcomed this strong little guy 8 weeks before his due date! This little fighter was born at 3 lbs 8.4oz, and 15.95 in!

Katie was actually admitted to the hospital the previous Thursday due to some complications that required her to be hospitalized until it was time to deliver sweet baby Cal. Their medical team decided it was go time on Sunday and so Calvin was born via C-section earlier than expected.

Calvin has been doing wonderfully, no oxygen needs at this time, eating well! His nurses in the NICU have joked that he thinks he is one of the big kids! He is strong and beautiful and just has some growing to do before he can go home!

Katie's doctors are working to get her back to where she needs to be as well.

As you can surely understand Katie's recovery will be longer than expected, and the medical bills for both her hospitalization and Calvin's time in the NICU will be much more than planned for. Additionally, Calvin showed up a little early and so there are some things that Katie and Matt may need in order to be ready for him to come home that they haven't had a chance to find yet. Right now their health care teams are focused on getting them both healthy enough to go home and that will just take more time in the hospital. At this point it is not clear exactly how long.

I know that this time of year it is hard to find any spare money, but every little bit that you could spare will be so helpful. The money raised here will be used to help Katie, Matt, Olivia and Calvin buy the things they need for him to come home (some preemie sized clothing, diapers and any specialty needs). In addition, these funds will help them to pay for the costly but necessary medical care for both Calvin and Katie. We have no way of estimating how much these bills will add up to but a little research has shown that the average cost of a NICU stay is about $3000 per day, and that does not include Katie's hospitalization costs.  Katie's C-section recovery will require more time on leave than they may have been planning on so this money will also allow her to stay home and recover without having to worry about sacrificing her income.

If any of you have ever met Katie, you know that she is one of the most generous soul's on this planet. She will give you her last dollar, her last drop of energy, the shirt off her back and make you dinner on top of all of that if she thinks it will ease your life even the slightest bit. We all need a little help sometimes and now we all have a chance to repay just a bit of the kindness she has shown to all of us throughout the years. So many people have reached out to Katie and Matt wanting to help and everything is so overwhelming right now they aren't really sure what they need, so here is something we can all do to help them with whatever they may need!

If you would also like to purchase something off of the baby registry Katie started (but admittedly hadn't finished yet) here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/baby-reg/1DX1EA72NDQ4I

I will try to update the best that I can on their progress and with some more adorable photos!
