Baby Wesleys medical bills
Donation protected
Less than 12 hours after Wesley was born he was taken by ambulance to the University of MN Children's hospital for a severe ruptured skin blister on the bottom of his foot, we noticed all the skin was missing at his time of birth. Being discharged from our hospital so soon and to see him in the NICU was the most challenging thing we have ever been through. After 2 months of waiting for biopsy results he was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa. Luckily for him and the way he presents seems to be a pretty mild form. They are still recommending more testing and meeting with a genetic specialist in St. Paul.
I was not going to ask for help, since Jackson makes decent money at the mine in Alaska and has insurance. Insurance only covers so much, and our current balance is at $38,000. Just for the hospital bill.
We are only looking for help because after spending most of our savings buying our home, and with his work schedule and my needing extra time off work to recover from a difficult birth and start to Wesleys life we haven't had a paycheck in over 2 months.
Now that Jackson is back in Alaska for 2 weeks we've realised how much he needs to be home with us. Him getting a job around home, even if it's way less money is crucial right now, and the support Wesley and I need from him is more important than him staying in Alaska to support us financially.
It's going to leave us with medical bills that we will be paying on for a huge length of time in our life and are asking for even a tiny bit of support from our loved ones, so that he can come home and have a normal job and we can have some closure sooner by being done with this mess that was our experience at the U of M- and unfortunately it's not over. We're trying to do everything we can for little Wesley, but right now we need to all be together as a family. Anything big or small is appreciated. Thank you so much.
