The Nutter's Journey with Baby Vi

On Friday, October 6, Evangelist Anthony Nutter and his wife, Mercedes, met their beautiful baby girl, Vivi Taylor Claire Nutter. She was delivered by emergency cesaerean at 23 weeks weighing 1 pound 7ounces. Her mommy and daddy were not expecting their little angel to arrive until February of 2018. Anthony and Mercedes called her “Vivi” which means “life” before they ever knew her gender or that she would be born under these circumstances . Baby Vivi will have many challenges to face with a long stay in the NICU at the hospital.   When initially discussing Vivi’s prospective outcomes after birth, the doctors gave her a 10% chance of surviving outside the delivery room. The first goal was 72 hours, after that, one week, then at three weeks her survival rate dramatically increases. Vivi has lost a little weight and is down to 1.3 pounds and is about 11 inches long.  When she was born the doctors said it would be one step forward and two steps back. Yesterday she took a little step back. Vivi’s intestines are somewhat enlarged. This has halted some of the plans moving forward for her nourishment and progression. It could be one of two things: an infection or an abnormality from premature birth.  We are praying it is an infection and can be cleared up with antibiotics.  The hospital is an hour away from their home. Mercedes is recovering from her surgery and is unable to work.  Anthony is a full time evangelist and has canceled most of his out of town preaching engagements to stay close to Mercedes, Baby Vi, and their two year old little girl, Emerson. As their family, we are reaching out to those who feel they want to be a blessing to them.  There are so many financial needs which they will face in the days to come, and we want to relieve any additional stress this may cause.  We pray they are able to focus on the wellness of their family as prayers and financial blessings carry them through this journey in their lives.  Please pray for their sweet baby girl.  They are trusting God to carry them through every step of the way.
