Hi, my names Kassandra. We are raising money to help my Sister, Kayla and her husband and their sweet baby who will be born in August. Their baby girl has HLHS, hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Hypoplastic left heart syndrome is a congenital heart disease in which the left side of the baby's heart is severely underdeveloped. It can also affect other structures on the left side of the heart, such as the aorta and several valves. As far as seriousness, we've been told it's about as serious and complex as it gets. It's going to be a long road for our family. They will have to travel to Toronto in July, until October. That's where she will have her first of 3 open heart surgeries. When they return to Newfoundland, they will need to be in St John's for a month.
