My son Kennith and his girlfriend Samantha were very excited when they received the news that they were expecting a boy due in the beginning of October!
Also on the same day of receiving the joyest news they also were told that baby Jordan has Interrupted Aortic Arch which is a very rare heart defect (affecting 3 per million live births) in which the aorta is not completely developed. There is a gap between the ascending and descending thoracic aorta.
It has also been mentioned that there could be other medical conditions but the main focus at this time is fixing baby Jordan's heart.
Jordan will have to have heart surgery within the first two weeks of his life, this life saving surgery will be happening either in Phoenix or San Diego as the best specialist's for this specific condition are located in these two cities. Jordan will be in the NICU for at least the first month of life or longer.
My son is a hard working and dedicated individual, he is the soul provider for this family. Samatha is having a high risk pregnancy and is unable to work. Kennith will have to take a leave of absence (FMLA) from his employment without pay, to be there to support his girlfriend and there new baby. This means they will still have bills, rent, utilizes, etc and now travel expenses.
My son tells me his heart hurts so much and why is this all happening. My response is I believe that everything happens for a reason and we as a family will be there to love and support his new family.
Please if you can help support Kennith and Samantha during this emotional and scary time anything would help as they should be focused the health of baby Jordan without the stress of daily finances.
