Baby Ellie Mae Thompson Medical Journey

Donation protected
Hi, our names are Angela & Robert Busalacchi. Our nephew, Alex Thompson and his sweet wife Jules delivered their baby girl early at 24 weeks. The past 72 hours have been critical for all. Jules had been fighting a pulmonary emboli for this past year and recently diagnosed with HELLP syndrome. Making this pregnancy and any future pregnancy high risk. We believe mom is out of the woods, but Baby Ellie Mae has a miraculous medical journey ahead. We ask that you join with our prayer warriors and pray for our precious Ellie Mae. We are holding tight to Jeremiah 29:11. As you read that scripture, please think of our Ellie Mae.

Daddy, Alexander Thompson is a Hamilton County 911 Supervisor who has been a dispatcher for over 10 years. 10 years of answering everyone else's call in the time of an emergency. Mommy, Jules Thompson is a hair dresser. Jules is always making sure everyone else feels good about themselves. Alex and Jules are not used to being on the receiving end, but now more than ever they need our support. They are feeling GOD'S presence as they are holding tight to their Christian Faith. They need to focus all their attention and help their precious miracle fight for her life.

This journey will take several months of being off work. Alex will not be receiving any pay during this time off and Jules will not be receiving any pay either. They will be traveling back and forth to Riley's Children's Hospital in downtown Indianapolis. The trip alone from their house is approximately 45 mins one way. They will need to keep up with their current bills, new medical bills from mom & baby, gas, lodging, meals and occasionally a snack. I have created this account to give 100% of these funds directly to Alex and Jules. I have also included Alex & Jules own words about Ellie Mae.

Mommy says - Eleanor Maple Thompson (Ellie Mae as we like to call her) came into the world on January 7, 2024, at 5:31 pm. She weighed 1lb1oz and measured only 10 inches long. She has a long way to go before we get to bring her home, but after my surprise diagnosis of HELLP syndrome and following emergency c-section, she came into the world kicking and screaming, literally, and hasn't stopped!

We are holding the size of diaper the NICU has her wearing. She is such an amazing little miracle. The doctors prepared us for the worst-case scenarios, but even when describing the ideal situation, didn't think she would have pulled through like she has so far. We are so appreciative of everyone's thoughts and prayers for our little family. We have felt them so strongly. Though Ellie is still in chronic condition because of her size, she has such a wonderful team of round-the-clock care fighting with her. We have been overwhelmed with hope and peace about Ellie's care, knowing she has a great team and the Doctor of doctors taking care of her!

As for my care, I was finally well enough to meet her for the first time last night and I couldn't be more elated to have done so. She is so strong, so inspiring, and so incredible to watch in her little incubator box. We got to view her for quite a while before the nurse told us we could try skin-to-skin tomorrow if we heat the room to the temperature Ellie needs. I cannot wait to be able to hold my baby girl. I've slowly been recovering from my procedure, and doing fairly well. It's been hard to want to prioritize my healing when she is 2 floors down, but I know we both need to be healthy if we want to make it home!

We are so grateful for the journey we've had so far, even though my pregnancy portion was cut short. This is not something anyone could ever prepare you for, so we greatly appreciate a continuation of prayers over our new little family. We are still trusting that everything will work out to God's plan and He must have big plans over Ellie's life to have made her the fighter she has proven to be so far!

We are claiming James 1:2-4, and finding joy through perseverance and Matthew 18:18-19 and finding God's powerful presence in prayer.

Daddy says -
My words for Ellie, she is our shining light - she has blessed every nurse and doctor in here. She is a fighter. She has all of our families strength and stubbornness in her right now to keep going. We love every part of her. We cannot picture our world without her.

We love this baby girl, I want nothing else but for her to have a long healthy life. Ellie was in the less than 1% percentile. Doctors right now today are saying "critically ill but stable"
