BABY ELEANOR'S RECOVERY
Eleanor Beard was born February 6th, 2018, at Duke University Hospital. She was diagnosed with severe heart defects that impacted her heart, lungs, and ability to eat.
She was able to come home for a few days. Her parents took her to the local ER due to her having a hard time breathing. They sent her to Duke Pediatric Cardiac ICU via ambulance. She was discharged a few days later. After a few more days of being home, she turned blue on her way to her cardiac appointment. They sent her to Duke Pediatric Cardiac ICU again by ambulance. Her diagnosis is Dextrocardia with complete balanced AV canal defect, interrupted IVC with Azygous continuation, and a right aortic arch. She has been in the hospital for almost two months. She just had pulmonary band surgery in order for her to gain weight and be older for her next heart surgery in a few months.
She is being cared for at the Duke Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, which is three hours away from her home.
Her one year old brother has just been allowed to visit after the flu ban, and her family has been staying at a nearby hotel driving back and forth from their home. They would use this money for hotel stays, food, travel to and from the hospital, and any hospital care not covered by insurance. They would be extremely grateful for any assistance.
