Eighteen-month-old Baby Dylan is typically found laughing, running, playing, and riding his new car. His beaming, bright smile is contagious and heart-warming. Dylan’s young mother, Caitlyn, recently enrolled in a local community college to work on creating a better future for the two of them. She was able to obtain daycare for Dylan a couple months ago so that she could spend some hours dedicated to school, while Dylan could benefit from experiences with other young children. They reside with Dylan’s grandmother and Caitlyn’s mother, Pam. The family of three recently found an apartment just a few days ago so that they could move out of an unstable living situation. They have been struggling (financially and emotionally) for quite some time and there was finally a light at the end of the tunnel that would allow them to start creating a safe and loving home.
The day after they picked up their new key, Caitlyn received a phone call that no mother ever wants. There was a fire at the daycare and Dylan was severely injured. Dylan was transported to the nearest hospital where his burns were first treated before being medflighted to another hospital that was more equipped to handle the severity of his injuries. Approximately 20% of his body suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns. He will be going through various procedures during recovery and may have a long road ahead.
Fortunately, Dylan was admitted to a fantastic hospital and the family will not see any medical bills. However, there is still a lot to come for Dylan and his family. We are hoping to help them with long term care, transportation, time off, getting moved into their home, and other expenses that will be involved for the family. Any help is greatly appreciated.
