Babes Brigade -Women's Skateboarding
Donation protected
Hello friends, If you don’t already know me, my name is Stephanie Battieste and I am the Founder and Owner of Babes Brigade: A womxn’s skateboarding company based in Toronto. Babes Brigade is a company I have been developing for over 4 years. The goal of Babes Brigade is to empower girls and womxn through skateboarding.
I started BB’s as a free weekly meet up at local skateparks in the downtown Toronto area. It quickly took traction in the skate community and the need for skateboarding lessons, meet ups and contests became evident fairly quickly. I have dipped my fingers in all aspects of the skate community to help give more visibility to women in skateboarding. Things have certainly been growing at a very fast pace. There are more groups and non profits then ever before, but there are still not many women trying to establish themselves as entrepreneurs in the skateboarding industry.
That has been my drive for the past couple years. I want to take my business to the next level and develop a Babes Brigade clothing line that I can sell at local skate shops and through our website. I have tried to make this happen before but unfortunately I lost my funds due to a trademark infringement issue, this has since been solved but the money lost was never recovered.
My background is in Fashion and previously I owned a business for three consecutive years. It has been very difficult making this dream come true because although many people don’t know what happens behind the scenes, I have only been able to make so many strides and accomplish so much by working a part time job so I can be available as much as I have been needed time wise. Between acting, part time work and running a business it has been very hard finding a way to balance everything as I get older. I know that through donations I can continue to grow Babes Brigade to it’s full potential!
The business is a fully registered and trademarked company so the hard work has already been done and most money in the past went to paying those fees. I hope with a little more insight into who I am and what I want to accomplish I can show you that my business is one worth backing.
