On Wednesday September 19th, 2018 Nicole got very injured. In the result of her accident she broke 2,3,4 and 5 of her ribs, ruptured her spleen and the list goes on. Since then she has encountered many complications, one being that her left lung decided to fill almost completely full of blood. The doctors had to quickly put a drain in and drain all of the blood out (2,600 ml of blood). Since taking her drain out her lung is slowly beginning to retain fluid once again causing her to have to stay in the hospital. She has spent two days in ICU after her emergency procedure to fix her spleen last Wednesday the 19th and is now going on her seventh night in the surgical unit at the hospital. With hopes of going home today she just received news from her Doctor that he isn't comfortable sending her home with the condition that her lungs are in. The next step is to wait until Sunday to get another CT Scan of her chest and to see if the fluid has progressed, stayed the same, or gone down. It has been a very scary past 9 days but each day that passes means that Nicole is one more day closer to being able to go home! Prayers, thoughts  and messages are all greatly appreciated by the McDonald/Van Dyk girls during this tough time.
