Electric Wheelchair for Henry

Until just recently Henry was 100% independent, active, enjoying working in his yard, long walks, helping neighbours and caring for his ailing wife of 50 years.
At the age of only 72, a sudden and rare type of stroke in his spine in December 2015 changed his life forever. He was air lifted via Medivac to hospital where he was told his paralysis from the waist down is permanent. Now, instead of caring for others, he requires the help of others for his basic needs. While this is a devastating and abrupt change to his life, he is determined to make the very best of everything he is able to do and trying not to focus on what he can no longer do.
He has spent most of his adult life helping those around him, including family, friends and even strangers. Henry was a softball coach for many years, a head umpire for his community of Terrace, BC, and a volunteer assisting the aging and infirm in an elderly care home. He also spent 10 years caring for both his mother and father in law during their battles with strokes and Alzheimers, and continues to maintain their gravesites now that they've passed on.
Completely unable to stand or walk, Henry requires a motorized wheelchair. Because Henry also deals with Parkinson's Disease, and the tremors this condition causes, it must be one that permits him maximum mobility. Chairs such as these are very expensive.
With no extended health benefits to assist, its Henry that now requires help so that he can once again be mobile and productive and so that he can have the best quality of life possible under his new circumstances.
He continues to amaze us all with his humour, his will and determination, and reminds us everyday that no matter how bad things get, we can overcome them.
We are asking for help in raising $12,000 toward this much needed chair and medical costs. Any assistance that can be given is so deeply appreciated by Henry and his family.
