Emily's Strength

Paula (Mom), Chad (Dad), and Emily Mikkelson are facing the challenge of cancer relapse. This is the second battle Emily is fighting. They travel frequently to Houston for treatments. Her friends and family want to help them with the travel expenses to help them keep their focus on healing. They act with the strength we hope to have if something like this were to happen to one of our children.

Now, let’s talk about Emily. Emily is 11 years old. She is a talented horse rider competing at the Silver Spurs Rider’s Club in Sulphur, LA. She performs in English and Western events on her Arabian horse, Prissy. Emily is the child that will steal your heart in an instant. She puts others first even when she is not feeling well. She has a natural ability to comfort others. Her treatment does not allow her to go to school. She fights with her parents and doctors to be able to ride her horse. We pray every show she will be well enough to come. We cannot wait until she is back in the saddle full time after she wins this battle. She is stronger than all of us.

Friends of the Mikkelsons best describe them saying, “The Mikkelsons have not asked for help, but they deserve it”. We started this account to help our friends. The hardships of treatment cannot be taken away but we can mitigate them with prayers and support. We expect up to two years of treatment. We would like to collect $1,000 per month ($24,000).
