Hurricane Harvey Recovery Fund

Donation protected
It is with a heavy heart that I am asking for donations for Mom and me to assist with the financial burden caused by Hurricane Harvey. We are in a temporary home but will have to move to other accommodations in the next few days, which means additional costs that we just don't have the resources for at this time.
In addition, we will need to move out of our rental home which was not in our financial plan for the next few years when at such time we planned to move out of state.
As most of you realize moving is expensive and rental homes usually require the first month's rent and equal security deposit.  That along with having to replace all of our perishable food items and moving costs is what this requested amount of money will be allocated to.
I know everyone has been watching the news coverage and I can tell you what you are seeing on tv doesn't begin to show the full impact of what has happened. The fourth largest city in the United States has been brought to its knees.
Prior to us having to evacuate our house we spent a day and a half helping to rescue our neighbors and friends. In that short time we loaded over 100 men, women, children, and pets into my Jeep to get them to safety. Most we took to area hotels that were still accessible, some to shelters set up temporarily, and others to some fellow neighbors who were still dry and opened their homes to those who have been displaced.
I never thought we were going to be ones needing to be rescued, but when the dams and levees began to pose a threat of breaking, controlled releases turned into uncontrolled releases. With having received more than 50" of rain the reservoir and bayou water had nowhere else to go. Our neighborhood does NOT sit in a flood zone, but the surrounding bodies of water just could not take anymore. The releases are expected to continue for the next couple weeks and to make matters worse, this morning there was word that a nearby levee is beginning to give, and will likely break bringing even more water into our neighborhood. The south side of our neighborhood is a complete loss and half of the north side where I reside, has been lost or suffered significant damage.
I have posted some pictures here and video can be found on my Facebook page which I have made public.
Whatever amount you can help us with is beyond appreciated. I never thought we would be in this position and it is killing both of us to ask for this kind of assistance, but it is what it is right now. We have no choice but to move forward and stay strong. Your assistance will help us to do exactly that.
Last, I will be taking the Jeep out today to see where we can continue to help others. I will take pictures of the "aftermath" and continue to post updates. Please keep an eye on my Facebook page as well for additional video updates.
