RICK BISSELL’S RECOVERY

On July 1, 2014 Rick Bissell was in a horrible motorcycle accident.   Rick was air lifted to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls SD.  He was immediately placed on a ventilator.  Rick’s right leg received very extensive damage with crushing breaks in his femur, a broken knee cap and a broken tibia and fibula.  Rick’s hip was also broken, his liver lacerated and his kidneys were bruised.  He also has broken ribs at the sternum, broke his nose and received a gash on his forehead.  He was taken to surgery the night of his accident and later received over 24 units of blood in the Critical Care ICU.  He remained on the ventilator for four days.  On Friday July 4 he was in surgery for 8 hours where they began the process of repairing the leg by placing rods, screws, pins and plates.  Rick is going to be facing many surgeries in the future, including skin grafting, bone grafting and hip replacement.  As many of you know Rick is the owner of Bissell Flooring and with the severity of his injuries he is going to be unable to work for an undetermined amount of time.  As many of us know this can be financially devastating just alone with the normal monthly bills.  So many people have reached out to ask how they can help and, so we have put together this page.  At this point anything we can do for him will help.  All of the money raised will go directly to Rick.
