Family Mission - A Restoration Story

Donation protected
Eight years ago I never would have thought that our family would be where it is today. In 2006, around this time, our family was disrupted and devastated. Our home was broken by the hands of divorce and abandonment. Anger, frustration, heart-break, deep-pain and suffering...emotions raged. A structure and organization, so often taken for granted in today's society, changed in the blink of an eye. Little did we know that this event would take us all on a profound life-altering journey.

I have seen many pictures of the after effects from families affected by natural disasters. Looking at the remains of where a house once stood, only to now see everything left in shambles. It is hard to sift through the wreckage, to see what once was, no longer. That was were we stood, in shambles, but amongst the wreckage came hope and a new life for us all.

See the rebuilding process began, but this time our foundation was not constructed on worldly pursuits, it was build on our Rock, Jesus Christ. It has been a long time in this process of rebuilding, one that will continue on for many years to come, but by a series of events, the Lord has captured our hearts. We each hit our own individual "rock-bottom" all at different times, seemingly like the Lord was dealing with us one at a time. Divorce, depression,a break-up, the heaviness of life all caused us to finally come to a point of surrender.

Where we saw no hope, God said give everything to me and I will make a way. When we saw no end to our pain, God said come to me and I will heal you. When we thought we would be just another statistical broken family, God laughed and said nothing is too great for me. And through these past eight years, I believe nothing sums things up better then Redemption. God's redeeming hand has brought our family together once again. And by no means are we perfect. We still have a lot of reconstruction taking place, but now we have a new Builder, with a new set of blue-prints in His hands.

Throughout this time, one of my prayers was that my family would be unified by Christ and together serve him as a household. God has now opened up the door for us to do such, serve Him together as a family. This year is unique and special, because both of my parents are turning 50. I really wanted to do something special for them. I had a few ideas, but when this opportunity came along, I jumped at it. While I have been on a few mission trips, neither of my parents have ever been on one. I thought, what a great gift to give them. An opportunity of a life-time, a memory that will last forever, an answer to prayer, and a testimony like no other.

We have an opportunity to serve in Queretaro, Mexico this summer. We will be going in support and to service NewLife Community Church's first International location, which held its first service in October of 2013. The team that is already in Queretaro is committed long term to serve this community with the love of God. In order to encourage them and help serve alongside them, our group from Chicago is going down to do a day camp for kids, sports programs for youth, and a number of family activities. Would you consider supporting our family in this work as we go to help and serve and love on other families?

Thank you for taking the time to consider partnering with us in this work!

Peace and Grace,

The Morales Family
