Help Us Save Rosebud The Therapy Dog

HI there, I am writing in hopes we can get some help with our sweet dog Rosebud. She tore her Right hind ACL playing catch with a tennis ball last Friday. On Friday, I took her to our local Vet, and said yes it is a torn ACL, and gave her Tramadol for the pain until we can get in to see an Ortho Vet on Tuesday. By early Sat AM, Rosebud wasn't acting right, and didn't look right. She was barely breathing, her eyes looked weird, wouldn't stand, and was vomiting. When I finally was able to get her up right, she started pacing in circles. I texted Holli from Stellas Hope, and she said take her straight to the Community Vets in Garden Grove, and we were afraid she was bloating. Once we got to the Vets, they took her straight back on a gurney...and they said she was not bloating!! Whew! What a relief! But then, we weren't sure what was going on. They told me she had a fever of 106, and was pretty sick....they wanted to keep her overnight for IV fluids, and to wait for blood results. By the next day, she looked and was acting soo much better! Fever came down, shes eating and drinking, blood work came back normal except for a little low Thyroid. They are assuming she got so sick from a bad reaction to the Tramadol. She's now on Thyroid medication and finishing up her antibiotics. Rosebud is doing great, except for her ACL. I can tell she is in pain, as she doesn't put any weight on that leg. We are trying to raise money for Rosebud's surgery. We got Rosebud a little over 4 years ago, for my son Slade. Slade was born with a rare Metabolic Disease, and shortly before his 3rd birthday Slade suffered an Ishemic stroke which left him permanently physically and developmentally delayed. Slade has seizures, does not speak, eat, or walk on his own. Slade is often hospitalized with varius issues from HyperAmmonia episides, to seizures. I recently made the decision to stop working to care for Slade, so he can get the best therapy and help to lead a full life. Despite all that Slade goes thru, we are a very active family, and he is the happiest little guy who just wants to hug and hold hands with anyone he meets. Rosebud is instrumental to Slade, more than just a therapy dog....she is his best friend. The love and bond between any child and animal is precious. But to see these two, who both can't speak....they seem to understand each other just fine. When Slade is hospitalized, Rosebud paces the house soo anxious when Slade is not here. She can almost sense something is wrong. Dogs are just soo amazing! Rosebud is not a certified Seizure dog (she has no training in that), but whenever Slade has a seizure, she will lay across him as almost to protect him, to reassure him. She helps him balance, as Slades gait is really really bad, he is mostly in a wheelchair. Prior to me staying home to care for Slade full time I was working in the medial field as an LVN, but as you can imagine I had to take a lot of time off to care for Slade, especially during times of illness. For now, its in Slades best interest to have me home. It saddens and sickens me that it comes down to $$ to care for our sweet precious girl Rosebud. But I know that is life. I am not working at all, so $$ is extremely tight. I am a single parent (Slade's dad passed away) doing this on my own, and I will do anything to help Rosebud! We take for granted health insurance for us, a broken leg would be a no brainer for us, but for our pets we have to raise $$! If anyone could or would help our family I would greatly greatly appreciate it!! Rosebud is Slades very best friend in this world, and it breaks my heart to see her in pain and suffer. :( Thank you sooo soo much!! Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Love, Katherine and Slade
