Introduction:

My name is Jazzy Wong and my partner is Ian Holland. We are currently traveling in Thailand to explore the world with intention to embark upon a beautiful spirtual journey together.

One week ago while traveling on a ferry boat from Koh Samui to Koh Phagnan we had the honor of meeting Marius Botha, a truly beautiful spirit.  While his eyes sparkled with light, physically he appeared worn. He was bandaged up head to toe and hobbling barefoot on one foot.

With curiousity I approached him and inquired if he had been in a motor scooter accident. (I myself had been involved in one last year and was scraped from head to toe).  He informed us that 4 days prior, he and his girlfriend Elske were involved in a very serious motor scooter accident and she was currently in the hospital.  We spent the next 45 minute ferry ride connecting and sharing our stories.

Their Story:

I have the honor of introducing you to Marius Botha, age 24 and Elske Roux, age 21 from Johannesburg, South Africa. They have been together 5 years and were so excited to embark upon a 6 month journey to explore Souteast Asia Together.  With each day of travel their love for one another grew exponentially.

They spent one month in Koh Phagnan where they found volunteer work trade opportunity at a resort. They loved spending their days exploring the island's beaches, jungle, and night markets by motor scooter.

The Accident:

On June 24th, they were making their way to the weekly night market at Tong Sala when a man on a scooter in front of them made a last minute turn in their direction and they collided.

Marius and Elske were evacuated from the scene of the accident by speed boat to the emergency room in Koh Samui.  It appeared that they both had suffered from scrapes and bruises at first, however Elske was having trouble speaking and moving.  Doctors soon discovered that due to the collision that she suffered a brain bleed and needed an operation to alleviate the swelling of the brain immediately.  Elske went into surgery and had part of the right side of her skull removed.

Marius has been by Elske's side every minute since the accident occurred.  He sleeps by her bedside and cares for her every need, comforting her with his presence and love. Elske is under the treatment of doctors and nurses who have been providing stellar care for her at Bandon International Hospital.

Elske has made immense progress since her operation and is now saying short sentences and able to slowly walk.  She still suffers from immense pain and requires treatment and medication to manage her pain levels.  She is growing stronger each day.

Why we are asking you for help:

Elske's operation and treatment are at a private hospital Bandon International Hospital on Koh Samui.  Elske's medical expenses have skyrocketed over the last 2 weeks since the accident and are increasing each day.  As of today, July 7, their bill has reached to over 1,000,000 Baht equivalent to around USD$31,000.  They have been told that they cannot leave the hospital until their bill is paid.  The hospital has threatened to call the police by July 11 if they are unable to pay minimum of 700,000 Bhat, or USD$22,000. We are hoping to find a lawyer who would be willing to help with the legalities of this case

Marius and Elske want to return home to their families where Elske can continue to recover surrounded by her loved ones. They need your help so that they return home.

Even if you cannot help with donations, please keep Marius and Elske in your thoughts are prayers. More than anything they can use your spiritual presence to help lift her from her pain, give her strength, and allow them to move from this experience.

"Everything you do right now
ripples outward
and affects everyone.
Your posture can shine your heart
or transmit anxiety.
Your breath can radiate love
or muddy the room in depression.
Your glance can awaken joy.
Your words can inspire freedom.
Your every act can open hearts and minds."
