Help for Román Family, Huracán Ida Flooding

Tax deductible

I'm raising money to help the Román Family, and any donation will help make an impact to recover their basement. They lost everything because of Huracán Ida and insurance will not cover any of it. As water rose to 5 feet, the Huracán not only damaged all of the walls, flooring and personal property, but also damaged the heater, pipes and part of the electricity. They are quickly doing anything in their power to avoid any further damage, such as molding, which can become a safety hazard. Alex and Silvia have a long road ahead of them.

Alex and Silvia immigrated from Bolivia over 30 years ago leaving everything behind, with the dream of creating a better life for their children.  As part of that American dream, they each worked multiple jobs for so many years to be able to provide for their family and hoped to one day buy a house.  Through their hard work, the Románs were able to achieve that dream of home ownership. Unfortunately, Alex and Silvia's hearts were shattered when they found themselves in the middle of Huracán Ida earlier this week. They tried to control the water flooding into their home in the middle of the night, but the water was so strong that it broke their door and kept pushing them down, so they had to leave for their safety. Alex and Silvia are distraught at seeing all their hard work and dedication vanish in a blink of an eye but are grateful to God that they are safe, as they know others have lost love ones due to this natural disaster.

Alex and Silvia both lost their jobs early in the COVID-19 pandemic, but through the grace of God were able to eventually find positions with Emerson Clinic, helping the Hispanic community. We are so lucky to have Alex and Silvia as part of our team, as they work very hard to help the Hispanic community and they are always available and happy to help others. They have had a great impact in the their community, as they educate and bring access to health to their fellow Hispanics. For example, Silvia has helped over 50 pregnant women get an RSV vaccine in order to prevent their newborns from getting infected with the virus.

This is a hard working family who has volunteered lots of their time in health fairs, even on the weekends. They are so dedicated to their Hispanic community and we hope that the community can show its support and help them in return.

Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
