THE
CONFERENCE

The African Youth and Governance Convergence (AYGC),  is an eight-day institutionalized leadership programme organized by the Youth Bridge Foundation, a non-governmental organization that is focused on harnessing the potential of one of Africa’s greatest resources — its youth.

The purpose of the event is to  provide a platform for talented African youth in and outside the continent to critically examine and propose solutions that tackle issues related to healthcare, education, unemployment, and sustainable development in Africa. The 11th AYGC is taking place in Accra, Ghana from August 11 to 18, 2019. The theme for this year is “Partnerships for Youth Development: Key to Building a Continent Beyond Aid.”

MOTIVATION

I am motivated to attend the AYGC because of my strong desire to contribute to the advancement of Africa and its people. Similarly, I am committed to engage in work that challenges the stereotypical portrayals of Africa and its people in a negative light, which is consistent with AYGC’s agenda of ‘Building a Continent Beyond Aid,’ hence challenging the commonly held perception of Africa as being a dependent continent. I am particularly interested in attending this fellowship programme because it will provide me with the knowledge and tools necessary to be able to contribute to achieving sustainable development in Africa.

My perspective is that Africa is a continent full of hope, potential, and opportunities, pending the proper solutions to fulfill the ambitions of its resilient populations in the continent and around the globe.

Knowledge gained from the AYGC, then, will allow me to inspire positive transformation in my community and to become an ambassador for change that leads our Motherland and her people all over the world to thrive. My participation at the 2019 AYGC will also benefit Africa and Canada through the creation of global networks, inter-cultural exchanges, and civic engagement.

BREAKDOWN OF EXPENSES

The total cost for the conference is $1200.00 USD (approximately $1615.30 CAD), which does not include travel costs.  Travel expenses to and from Accra is roughly $1800.00 CAD.

With your support, I am hoping to raise $3000.00 CAD by August 5, 2019, to help cover the conference and travel expenses.

Please consider supporting me in attending this important initiative,  any amount helps.

Your support is greatly appreciated.
