Chipps Family Hurricane Relief

My name is Heather Chipps Townsend and I live in Halifax County, Virginia. Hurricane Michael hit our little town of Halifax pretty hard last week. Families and people were affected all over the county and surrounding areas, including my parents, Steve and Nancy Chipps.

Their home was flooded just off of Highway 58, about a mile from the intersection of 58 and 501. Thankfully it didn't do nearly the damage it could have, but still damaged their home never the less. The flood water did get into the their home about 6-8 inches deep in some places including the back porch, kitchen, their bed room, and hallways of the house, doing damage to the basement as well as the floor boards all throughout the house.

The flood water is now receding, slowly but surely, and they are now left with having to do a lot of unexpected clean up, replacing of items such as their hot water heater, washer and dryer, and more items they have yet to discover. They are currently living with my husband and I in the mean time, which we are so grateful to be able to do for them. They DO have flood insurance, thankfully. Those that know insurance know that it can take some time to access the damage and file the claim. Not to mention all of the unexpected expenses in between.

While my parent's would NEVER ask for donations like this, people have been asking what they can do to help. I feel it would help them tremendously with being able to make sure they get their home back up and running. They are both very kind, and giving people, and again...would NEVER ask for help like this because they like to try to just handle things on their own, but it never hurts to ask for help when it is truly needed.

Whether you can donate $10 here or there, share this post, or even help lend a hand when they have to move all of their furniture to re-do the floors....ANYTHING really does truly help and I know they would appreciate it more than you could ever imagine.

On Friday October 19th, I will close the Go Fund Me so that they can use the withdraw and go ahead and use the money donated during this time of need.
