Mike Winn

On Monday the 8th of Sept our brother, Darren, found his son unconscious in the basement. As he reached for the phone, Mike quit breathing. He was taken to Brigham Hospital and then lifeflighted to Ogden Regional where they preceded to do an 8 hr surgery to put in a shunt. They discovered he had a bacterial meningitis that entered his brain from a hole in his eardrum. He had a previous surgery for a brain tumor a few yrs ago and it filled up this area.

The doctors then lifeflighted him again to the U of U. He was critical. He then had a heart attack and several strokes. The family gathered all week praying he would wake up and beat this like he did the tumor. On the 13th of sept Darren and Teri gathered the family and made the decision to turn off the vent. All the tests of the brain waves Indicated he was gone. Many people came to say goodbye. Many phone calls held up to his ear to say goodbye. His two young sons came and were stunned that their Dad wasn't able to sit up and talk to either of them. They were losing the only dad they had ever known.
