Avas Fight with Alopecia

Donation protected
Hello,
We are trying to raise money for our 7 year old daughter Ava Marie Johnson who was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata in 2015 (aged 3) When we first noticed that Ava was losing her hair she was referred to the Dermatologist Department at City Hospital (Birmingham) where she was offered a treatment called DCP (Diphencyprone) Ava was the youngest child to start this topical steroid treatment, Avas immune system reacted so well to this treatment that she had 90% hair growth in 12 months, she was on this treatment up until 2017, We was so happy and overwhelmed that Avas hair had grown back but to our disappointment in September 2018 we noticed that Ava had started to lose her hair again and had a new patch. Ava was then referred back and started her treatment in November however to our disappointment Ava seemed to become immune to the treatment and her hair got worse and she is losing more hair as the days go on, below are some pictures of Avas current hair Loss,

As Avas Parents we hope you can sympathise with how heartbreaking this is for us to watch, and also the impact it is having on Avas self esteem and confidence.

We have reached out to a campaign and met a lady called Ashley Marie Higgins who runs a campaign called Little Lady Locks which offers hair systems to young girls like Ava who are going through this difficult time, This campaign believe that if the patches are covered up this will not only improve young girls confidence but also eliminate the stress and help stabilise/improve the condition.  The hair sytems made at Little Lady Locks are all hand made by using natural hair/extensions which are threaded into a net fabric and knotted. This gives the illusion of hair and scalp, the fabric is then attached to a net onto the natural hair which can then grow naturally with the system in place. The campaign provides hair systems, fits them and maintains them free of charge every two months. As Ashley runs this campaign on her own she depends on fundraising to help provide the girls with there new hair.

The net systems/wigs can cost up to £500 depending on how big the affecting area is and also the cost with up keeping can be expensive,

As Avas Father (Daiman Johnson) I have organised a team and are going to help raise money for Little Lady Locks by doing a 10K wolf run with 12 other people, The team is as Follows...

Thomas Thorne
Josh Sidwell
Christopher Watkins
Dave Price
Shaun Brookes
Connor Walsh
Anthony Byrne
James Owen
Sam Regan
Paul Charnley
Ryan McDonagh
Robert Thomas

The run will take place on the 7th September

As most of you that know us you will realise how much of a struggle this will be for us, The wolf run is a 10K run tackling lakes and obstacles it is a   combination of three kinds of off-road running: mud runs, trail runs and obstacle runs.  it’s a hardcore 10k run across raw natural terrain, including open ground, woodland, lakes & thick mud.
Running in a pack we will  tackle a series of tough obstacles - both man-made and natural - designed to test our mental & physical strength, skill and stamina. We will be challenged on many different levels and we will be training in order to achieve this.

Avas Auntie Brogan will also be doing a Head Shave as her hair will be used in order to make Avas wig. Brogan will be taking off the underneath of her hair and donating it towards the back section of Avas new hair.

We have set our target at £1000 pounds and believe this will help Ava and benefit the organisation massively. We would be grateful for any donations big or small, if you can't give could you please share, Thanks a lot for reading and we will be happy just to see Ava with a smile on her face again...xx
