Ava High School Bass Fishing Team

We all have dreams, these kids have dreams. With enought faith and hard work anything is possible. Ava, Missouri is the home of a great group of kids dedicated to the sport of bass fishing. Our town is very rural, and most of these kids grew up hunting and fishing under the guidance of their families. It's a way of life here. With the help of their friends and families this group will practice and compete against teams from other schools in our state with the hopes of moving on to bigger competions in the country. Scholarship money is awarded to these talented kids when tournaments are won. Some students go on to fish on college teams and are provived a higher learning education through thier  fishing accomplishments. Bass fishing tournaments teach team building, dedication, an enhanced love or the outdoors and the desire to care for it.  Fishing is one of the last remaining vehicles for the masses to stay connected to the natural world and that connection is so important to the conservation of the woods and waters that are so critical to a healthy society.
High school fishing in Ava is not funded by the school. They consider it a club. All activities are paid for throught fundraising and hard work. Not only do the kids need uniforms, they have the added cost of entry fees, tackle, meals, gas, hotel stays, and must secure an adult boatdriver who is willing to provide liablitiy insurance and get a back ground check. This driver will generousely take their personal time to attend each tournament and inccur all the financial costs that go along with it( hotel, gas, meals, etc.). Boat drivers must also be CPR certified. It is important to raise enough money to help them off set their costs as well. Team members must also get sports physical and attend trolling motor safety courses that add to mounting costs . As you can see, this sport requires an immense amount of team and family participation. If they didn't love it, they wouldn't do it. It's a huge commitment. Please help us if you are able, even a small amount will help us toward our goal. Each ot these great kids has a dream they are hoping to achieve, please show them you believe and that anything is possible is you try hard enough.
