Head Tumor

This year has been a tough year.  I had my leg broken in April, a cyst on my jaw taken out in May, and in April I also learned I need shoulder surgery due to a bone spur and a separated clavicle.  We all have challenges in life, but now I have been faced with another even more monumental challenge.

On Aug 7, 2018 I was diagnosed with a tumor behind my eyes.  The tumor is pressing against the back of my right eye causing it to turn toward the left, as you can see in the picture.  An MRI shows that the tumor has wrapped around the blood vessels that feed my brain.  I was told I must have it out, and the surgery is scheduled for September 25, 2018.

The neurosurgeon is not sure what effect the surgery will have on my eye.  Anything right now is just  speculation, including the overall effects of the operation.  I am told I will be out of work for 4-6 weeks after the surgery.

The hospital said I need to pay $19,800 at the time of surgery.  The lady in the financial department said the average cost of the surgery runs around $70,000 plus any possible complications.  I do have some help with this cost, but she did indicate that the same health care group I am with only paid for a portion of another person's expenses for a similar operation.
