Help Gabriel beat cancer!!!

First and foremost, I want to thank you for taking the time to visit this page and considering supporting a very special man that means so much to many people, my dad Gabriel. If you know him firsthand as a friend or family member, you know him as a hardworking, prideful, protective and caring father, husband and grandfather who loves his family with all his heart and has spent his life working long hours to support us. 

 On January 28th, 2022, Gabriel was admitted into UT Southwestern and had an emergency tracheostomy due to an obstruction of his airway, leaving him with a feeding tube placed in his neck. It was a sudden, life-changing procedure that has completely altered how he can live his life for the foreseeable future. Due to his inability to talk and perform physically-demanding tasks like his job calls for, his diagnosis and treatment will leave him out of work for at least the remainder of the year.

 Gabriel was diagnosed with a cancer called P-19 Negative Squamous Cell Carcinoma. At the end of 2021, he began to experience pain in the left side of his throat. He initially shrugged it off, believing it was just allergies or sinus issues, but it continued to grow worse and made it hard for him to eat or speak. Once it got to the point where he couldn't even breathe comfortably, we knew something had to be wrong and brought him to the ER for examination. The doctors discovered a tumor attached to his left tonsil that had been growing and crushing his windpipe, which required an emergency tracheostomy.

 After about a week of inpatient urgent care, he has since been sent home but is still experiencing complications. We hope to know more about the status of his condition soon as we wait for his scheduled PET scan to determine his official prognosis, but the doctors made it clear that chemo and radiation will have to be a major part of his treatment plan. 

 Gabriel is uninsured and has a long road of expensive treatments ahead, as well as a need for expensive liquid food that's compatible with his feeding tube. As a man who has dedicated his life to working long hours out in the elements, living paycheck to paycheck to support his wife, three daughters and mother-in-law, he was not prepared for this kind of medical emergency to take away his means of making a living. 

 His wife, Michelle, works for Mesquite ISD and has taken a second job working at Walmart to help with the mounting expenses, but our family still needs major financial assistance to be able to afford his medical bills. Michelle will also have to balance taking time off work to accompany Gabriel to his appointments and treatments. As you can imagine, this whole experience has caused major physical, emotional, and financial strains on the Espinoza household, and we all are having to make significant sacrifices to help our parents make ends meet. 

 I can't express how truly appreciative our family is of those of you who are able to support Gabriel in any way, whether it be financially, through prayers or good vibes. Any contribution you can make would go a long way in the battle that our wonderful father has ahead of himself. He is a tough man with a gentle heart who prides himself in taking care of his family, which is why it is difficult for him to ask for help even in the hardest of times. Gabriel has dedicated his life to supporting his loved ones, which is why we are doing everything in our power to take some of the struggle away.
