Autism Services for Jon

Where to begin with the story of Jon Tyler.  5 years ago we were blessed with this little guy who changed our lives in so many amazing ways. As his mother I wanted the world for him. I wanted only good and happiness to come to him. It was when he was about 2.5 yrs old it became clear that he was  living life to his own different drum. We made his pediatrician aware of our concerns and she directed us to babies cant wait for some early interventions to see if that would jump start his non existent speech. He soon grew out of the babies cant wait program due to age and was moved to a special education pre k at the age of 3 at the public school. He was evaluated by a wonderful team who  diagnosed him with a significant developmental delay and a major speech impairment. He had a wonderful teacher at the school he was at but he only made small amounts of progress. It was recommended that he attend a certain pre k when he turned 4. Again he had wonderful teachers and made more progress but it was still clear that something wasnt right. At his 5yr check up his pediatrician said its time for him to go to a autism center for a clinical evaluation and diagnoses.  This didnt come as a shock but was still hard to swallow. He is now in kindergarten and is doing pretty good. He loves learning and craves the mental stimulation but he struggles so hard with the social side of things.  He loves to roleplay and make noises instead of using words at times and it tends to make other kids avoid him on the playground. His teacher informed us that he is starting to become a loaner and either playing alone or hanging close to the teachers. This absolutely broke my heart and made this very clear that he needs helps NOW!
So now the reason for this fund raising campaign.  Our insurance doesnt cover anything in the form of developmental health care. The evaluations and tests are 100% out of pocket for us.  There are also some parenting classes we really would love to take to help jon outside of his therapy's. But they too are not covered. Our insurance will cover a basic evaluation by a general psychiatrist which is going to cause jon to only get put on medications which  we arent ready to do at this time. So to approach this from a therapeutic way it has to be paid out of pocket all the way.  Nothing is cheap with medical care as we all know. The initial evaluation is $1500. The parenting one on ones are $105 per 1 hour session and it was suggested to plan on 10 to 12 sessions as that is the average for most parents to learn and feel comfortable. He also has major eating issues and we have been referred to an eating clinic for him with is another several hundred to get started in. He is getting speech therapy and occupational therapy  thru school which seems to be going well this year but maybe need more outside of school.
Mike works very hard to provide for our family and does an amazing job at it. We have decent insurance but are stuck in what seems like an impossible but very time sensitive situation and every way we turn just seems to either be a dead end or just more money out of pocket.
We do not take this lightly asking others for help and even the smallest donation is so much appreciated.
