Austin’s incurable cancer battle

We need your help. Our gorgeous and tenacious friend Nicole Austin has been dealt a devastating blow - she's been diagnosed with a stage 4b metastatic squamous cell carcinoma, originating in her ovaries it has spread to her lungs, liver and lymphnodes. But she's not alone. Her loving partner Kristy, two-year-old daughter Liv, and 7-month-old daughter Bowie are with her every step of the way.

You may remember Nic's heart-wrenching journey during Bowie's premature birth in 2022. Born at 23 weeks weighing 484 grams, Bowie spent 130 days in hospital. Despite the odds, Nic and Kristy never lost hope and spent every day by Bowie's side in the NICU. Her fight is far from over with Bowie having severe chronic lung disease and requiring regular hospital visits. In fact, they were so grateful for the medical care Bowie received that they help raise an incredible $262,001 for the Royal Hospital through The Royal Giving Day campaign. See the family here

Two weeks after Bowie came off oxygen at home, Nic’s cancer diagnosis came. And now, Nic herself with inoperable cancer has been rushed into the chemotherapy program at hospital. Weighing only 46 kilos, she's in a great deal of pain and is relying on the palliative care team to manage it.

Although her cancer is not curable, after chemotherapy the family wants to explore all alternative treatment options available to keep Nic with her girls for as long as possible. These treatments will come at a cost and when Nic finishes chemo they will have no income coming in so they need your help. Nic was the primary income earner for her family, who only recently bought their first home together. Now, with a large mortgage and mounting medical bills, they simply can't afford to prioritise anything other than Nic's survival.
