Friends, Family, Neighbors and Community…..As many of you may have heard the Augustitus (Schulte)
Family has received some devastating news. On his 49th birthday, May 10, 2017, Tom had a seizure in the middle of the night. He was rushed to St. John Hospital and after some testing it was found that he had masses on his brain. Tom and Nancy were sent to see specialists in the weeks to follow. In mid June Tom had a biopsy at the University of Michigan Medical Center, they got the news that no one ever wants to hear, Tom has stage 4 Glioblastoma, a very rare form of Brain Cancer.
Things moved very quickly from there, Tom and Nancy along with his doctors decided the best treatment plan would be at U of M Medical Center in Ann Arbor. Tom is currently receiving Radiation and Chemotherapy 5 times a week in Ann Arbor.
Tom and Nancy have two wonderful kids, Ben 13 and Sara 8. They are an amazing Family with strong ties to the community. Ben and Sara attend school with both of my boys, we have known this Family for many years. You can always count on a big smile and a wave every time you see Tom dropping off the kids at school. They are all just such kind people.
When a family is hit with such heartbreaking news we all hope that we can help in some way, The Augustitus (Schulte) Family needs our help now. Tom is no longer able to work or drive, the medical bills are already pouring in. The money raised will help to ease just a small part of the worry this family must feel. Some of the extra expenses include, co-pays for expensive Chemo pills, co-pays for daily radiation treatment and out of pocket expenses for periodic MRI's and scans. If you would like to help in another way there is also a Meal Train https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/oldqk4 , where you can sign up to bring the Augustitus’ a meal on those long days traveling for treatment. Please keep Tom, Nancy, Ben and Sara in your prayers.
