Auggiepalooza Always!!!

August Gianpiero King Chinchilla aka “August The King” passed away on March 6, 2023.

I’m Auggie’s Mom, Nakiah, and I’ve created this fundraiser because so many people have reached out wanted to help and support me (Thank You, I’m so very grateful), as well as those seeking to donate to something somewhere in August’s name to honor him. I get it, he was awesome.

I miss him too. 

After being diagnosed with Early Onset Juvenile Huntington’s Disease at age 7 and learning his terminal status, August and I began discussing his Celebration Of Life and what he wanted. While it took many iterations over the years, he never went to far from his original “beach party idea. He wanted a party at the Santa Monica Pier and for his friends to ride the rides all day and eat cotton candy. And so that’s what we are going to do!!

On Friday, August 4, 2023,

AUGGIEPALOOZA ALWAYS!!!

will be held at the Santa Monica Pier Carousel at 11AM.

August loved the carousel and is still the only person to ever use the wheelchair seat and used it often.

The ceremony will consist of a reading of his favorite poem, singing his favorite song, screening his five minute “August and the Magic Tire” film he made, and while his friends and family tell

stories and laugh and hug and cry and eat popcorn and cotton candy, his ashes will ride his “August The King” wheelchair solo one minute for every year of his life(15 min). I will then pass out the tickets and tshirts to the kids and they can just go have fun the ENTIRE day til 9pm. Riding roller coaster, doing bumper cars, playing ring toss, holding hands on the carousel, just giggling and screaming with joy. All the things August did at the pier a million before. On August.

and then he will go to the top of the Ferris Wheel one last time.

The funds will be used to:

-Rent Santa Monica Carousel with Private Entrance

-Unlimited Cotton Candy and Popcorn

-Multimedia setup to play memorial video, as well as, “August & The Magic Tire”, a movie he made in 2015-2016 with his friends and cousins about a boy who spreads joy by traveling around w/ a magic tire that makes people dance.

-Decorations, primarily just 1-3 giant cut outs of Augs for people to be photographed with while at the carousel.

-Unlimited carousel rides 11-3.

-50-65 (depending on funds raised)unlimited ride wristbands for ALL 18 and under guests(friends and family), his favorite nurses, his three Aunts, his five first cousins, and his two second cousins who he named “Auggiepalooza Ambassadors” years ago.

-$5-$10 game cards to play games at the Pier (depending on funds raised).

-50-65 (depending on funds raised “Auggiepalooza Always” t-shirts for teens and kid guests.

***PLEASE know if we don’t make the goal that’s okay. “Auggiepalooza Always” is still happening regardless.
