In Loving Memory
Beloved son, brother, cousin and friend. Javier Mendoza got his wings too soon.
What started as a stomach flu, ended up being a horrible nightmare that we wish to wake up from.
Javier went to urgent care with the stomach flu on Thursday. He was sent home with antibiotics and was told it was just the flu. Two days later he suffered multiple seizures and his family had to call 911. When the ambulance came they were able to stop his seizures and he was transported to Corona Regional Urgent Care. From there he was admitted and they did a cat scan and bloodwork and all his tests came back negative. He was sent home around 5 pm on Saturday. That night around 8pm, Javier began having seizures again. 911 was called again and he was again transported to Corona Regional. His mom was fighting for her son to get the correct treatment and was adamant about making sure he would get treated properly. That night Javiers life began to change. He was sedated and began seizuring and his mother was informed that he was going to be put in a medically induced coma and ventilator. Unfortunately the treatment done at Corona Regional wasn’t enough and he was moved to a different facility in San Diego where he would be observed and treated by neurologists.
In San Diego, he was put on 24 hour watch. Every test he was given came back negative. The neurologists that were treating Javier could not understand what was happening to him. They did another MRI and cat scan, and he was also given a spinal lumber rupture and blood transfusion. We were told he had rhinovirus and meningitis. His brain had also started to swell. The doctors informed his family that they would need to put him on a medication that would stop the swelling, but that it could also affect his other organs. His family would travel from Corona to San Diego daily in hopes that they would get signs of improvement but unfortunately God decided it was time for Javier to gain his wings. We are asking for any donations to help us during this difficult time. A mother cries for her son, two sisters cry for their brother, we cry for a human being who was a good man and was taken too soon. Javier, we miss you.
