A Van for Aubriella
Hello everyone! We currently are trying to gather funds for a van. Aubriella’s van has had many issues since getting it. They progressively got worse until it completely stopped working on 07/02/20. The other major issue was the lift. The lift became loose and would shake vigorously while driving (Aubriella was no longer able to use the lift because it not safe). We have brought it in to see if they could do something. We were told because this van is 17 years old they won’t touch the lift. Without the lift it makes it unbelievably hard to transport Aubriella. She is at her safest in her wheelchair. Her machines are at their safest attached to her wheelchair.
We managed to get home from Aubriella’s last appointment in Minneapolis. We parked the van, brought Aubriella and all of her bags and machines in. Mike went to park it in the driveway and the van decided to not start. We have a wavier that will pay for a full lift modification to the van. We wish that was the case for a new van, but that’s not how life works ☹️.
About my kiddo:
My daughter’s name is Aubriella and she is 6 years old. Aubriella has Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA).
What is SMA? SMA is a genetic
neuromuscular disease, it affects the motor neurons that power the muscles in the body. This means all of Aubriella’s muscles are affected. Aubriella is wheelchair bound. She has many machines that keep her healthy and able to keep active.
