Rally Around Aubree

Aubree Rose was admitted into hospital care at Duncan Regional Hospital on July 17, 2017. What was presumed to be a typical inpatient stay for kidney stones soon spiraled into something more complex and severe. Her blood pressure was extremely low and, after one day, a stent was placed to drain fluid from the kidneys, which lead to septic shock and pneumonia. The doctors had no hopes for her surviving this and offered to keep her comfortable or release her from care.

On July 19, she was transferred per family request to Southwest Integris in Oklahoma City, where she was ventilated and admitted into the ICU. Her prognosis according to the ICU doctors was bleak; however, a full body CT scan revealed a mass/obstruction in her intestines. A gastroenterologist, the one who ultimately saved her life, performed an exploratory surgery in which he discovered the mass was toxic mega colon. The colon was removed, and afterward, the infection began to decline and her prognosis was looking better. Almost a week following the colectomy, her ventilation tube was removed and she was able to speak again; however, due to the medical management of her condition and the exacerbated vasoconstriction, she lost excessive circulation to her extremities. On Thursday, August 10, her upper extremity amputation surgery was performed. Then, on Friday, August 18, her lower extremity amputation surgery was performed.

Aubree's journey with rehabilitation will be arduous and long.  Any donation, large or small  is greatly appreciated and will go towards easing the burden of this devastating event in Aubree's life.
