The Irish and Northern Irish governments have included the Atlantic Youth Trust’s plans in formal agreements and in the years ahead a new vessel will be built and run in a similar fashion to the Spirit of Adventure Trust.
In January 2018 a delegation of teenagers, Trust advisors, and board members is traveling to Auckland for a number of engagements, the core part being a 10-day voyage on the Spirit of New Zealand. Each participant will find themselves involved in all aspects of life on board from cooking, to cleaning, to climbing the 100ft main mast. All tasks require teamwork and excellent communication and as a result help fasttrack the development process.
While partly funded by the Trust’s supporters, each youth taking part has been asked to fundraise towards their trip. By supporting this trip it will help achieve 3 things. Firstly, provide a potentially life changing opportunity for the participant. Secondly, it will help the Atlantic Youth Trust learn more about the Spirit of Adventure Trust and in turn help it to refine its own plans for an Irish based organisation. Finally, it will help fund the ongoing campaign that to date, is entirely funded by private and corporate donations.
Thank you for taking the time to consider this proposal and for more information on both organisations visit: www.atlanticyouthtrust.org / www.spiritofadventure.org.nz
