Mike Yuill Memorial Aid And Unforseen Expenses

Hi. My name is Cherene Lamond-Colby. I am opening this fundraiser for the children of my good friend to help with the financial strain associated with the passing of their father, my friend, Michael Yuill. This is very important to me as I have been friends with this family for many years and am saddened by this event and the situation his kids are in.

 

As many of you are now finding out, on March 23, 2022, a man with a familiar Salmon Arm face that we all knew and loved, known as "Big Mike", passed away suddenly and unexpectedly.

 

Leaving behind his beautiful children, Zack and Rebecca, shocked and in disbelief, with a new heavy financial strain. To bring them some relief with these costs associated with their father's passing, I am hoping this GoFundMe will help ease that for them. Their mom, Tressa Hobson and family has helped with cost relief; however, more will be needed.

 

Michael did not have a will and nothing stipulated in his rental lease agreement that his son was also a tenant. The landlord has without any compassion, notified the family that Mike's son will have to move out as the landlord has decided not to continue renting it out at this time. This brings another issue to the table for these kids as they have to bury their father and move Zack out unexpectedly. For now, Zack will have to move back with his mom and stepdad. However, a considerable amount of work and fuel will be needed to empty out Mikes's residence and move Zack. Help will also be needed to cover the costs for things that won't be covered by the small-government aid that is given in times like these. There will be a viewing  on a date yet to be determined, with other costs associated. The kids want to put together a celebration of life as well and this will also be helpful with that. I know the government aid is not enough to cover the costs of a placard for the burial site, and I will be looking into that cost. Mike's daughter Rebecca lives in the Vernon/Lumby area, and the prices of fuel are as we know, ludicrous to say the least, which will make it very difficult to travel back and forth to help empty her dads home and tend to his  affairs.

 

Mike was a generous man. Many knew him from the "Bar days" working at Live Wire, Outlaw's and Off the Beat Pub & Lounge. I will always remember him as the only person I know who could rock a Shrek costume as good as he did. Michael was also known for his time spent with Heaven Sent Satellite and was a very well recognized member for Salmon Arm Security. A good guy that watched out for many. He will be missed by us all.

 

Please help with anything that you can offer so we can ease the financial distress on Mike's kids, Becca and Zack. They are not in a financial situation themselves to be able to cover these costs.

 

If there are still remaining funds, I ask that the family chooses a charity they think their dad would have supported.
