Assist Pavel's Family During His Critical Time

Hello Everyone,

My name is Elaine, I have created this GoFundMe on behalf of my Father, Pavel Akopnik. My father is a hardworking family man. He has spent the last 10 years of his life working as a self-employed trucker, driving for months at a time across the entire United States and into Canada, he has been the primary provider for my step-mother, Nina, and my 14 year-old sister, Emily.

On Saturday August 17, 2024 while on route to a delivery, he suffered a Hemorrhagic Stroke on the side of Highway 74 near Bloomington, Illinois. Thankfully he was able to pull off the road and was not involved in a car accident. After we notified local police that he had not been responding to phone calls, they quickly found him and took him to the hospital.

He now is in the ICU about 2,000 miles away from home. We have been in contact with the ICU nurses and doctors that have been caring for him every day since he was admitted. He remains stable but is in critical condition, we are unsure in which direction this will go but are hoping for the best. If and when he is discharged, his road to recovery is filled with many challenges to regain his strength and independence. Not only will he have to enter rehab treatment and undergo physical and speech therapy, we have to find a way to bring him back home. The only way to bring him back to California safely is via medical transport.

With him no longer being able to work, without his contribution to expenses, Nina is facing serious financial trouble having to cover not only family expenses but buisness expenses as well. With no savings, she is worried that she will not be able to cover their rent, we are asking for any and all help you would be able to contribute.

Your contributions will go directly to cover medical expenses that are not covered by insurance, such as medical transport to bring my father home, and family expenses to ensure they do not lose their home in the process.
